demographic transition model
Out of the four stages in the demographic transition model Morocco is in the third stage. It is in the third stage for a few reasons. First, the birth rate is declining and is currently at around 19 per 1000 which as you can see in the chart to the right is a characteristic of the third stage. Another reason is that Morocco is showing signs of urbanization as well as more technological advances. 57% of the population lives in an urban setting and is growing at rate of over 1.6% each year. Finally, the health care and sanitation has improved and in urban areas the water sanitation is around 98%. In conclusion, Morocco is probably in the early to mid section of the third stage.
